wcm Audio Player Help
[Continue, Back]
The wcm Audio Player operates similar to most on-screen audio controls and CD players. Please note the interface shown below.
The basic procedure to play and control a sound clip is as follows:
- In order to play a sound clip, click two times on the center of the player. Depending upon your security settings, you may only need to click once. The first click (or space bar, if requested) will get by the XP secuity guards.
The second click will initiate loading of the sound image.
- While the sound image is loading you will see a blinking "Loading..."
message in the center of the player. The progress of the loading process is indicated by the progress bar and the time indicators, which in this case indicate a percentage loaded. This process may take a while for large sound clips. Please be patient.
- After loading the player will automatically start playing the audio image.
- At this point all the controls will appear active and not grayed out.
- The sound clip will play to the end, unless the loop button is set on (see description below).
You have a number of functions you can perform to pause, restart, stop and otherwise control the audio player.
- The far left button on the player will toggle between "Start"
and "Pause" . Starting the sound clip after pause will resume play at the point where the pause began.
- The second button, "Stop" will stop the audio regardless of whether you are in pause or play mode. Pressing "Stop" will place the playback in a ready state at the begining of the audio clip.
- The "Loop" button
when pressed, and colored green will cause the player to loop the sound clip and play continuously until pressed off. Of course "Stop" and "Pause" operate as always.
- In the center of the player is the Position Indicator. This progress window contains a bar which indicates the current position or can be used in a mouse drag mode to set the playback to any point in the audio clip. On the left side of the position indicator is displayed the current time into the audio clip. On the right side is displayed the total length of the clip.
To position the playback simply mouse down on the progress bar and drag it to the desired position along the window. This positioning can be performed while stopped, in play or in pause mode.
- The Position Indicator acts to display the sound clip loading progress when the sound is initially loaded. In this cause the numeric indication is in percent loaded.
- A Speaker button
appears to the right of the position indicator. This button will toggle between sound-on and sound-"Mute"
when pressed.
- At the far right end of the audio player is a sound Volume Control. The vertical bars will indicate the intensity of the sound volume. To change the volume, simply click in a area of the volume control to achieve the desired sound level. Or perhaps you would rather mouse-down, then drag and release your mouse to set your volume level.
Special effects while playing multiple sound clips.
If multiple sound clips appear on a single web page, you can play one or play multiple clips simultanously for a special, interesting effect. Just start each sound clip as described in the steps above. Then adjust the volume of each player to get the overall mix of sounds that you wish to achieve.
Enjoy!
